About Evolution Aqua Airtech Air Pumps

Evolution Aqua Airtech air pumps have been used by fish keepers all around the world for over a decade to aerate ponds and filters. They are well known for their quality, value and reliability.

Fresh oxygen is vital to all aquatic inhabitants in your pond, including fish and filter bacteria.

Air from an Evolution Aqua Airtech air pump injects oxygen into pond water, creating a healthier environment for fish and biological filters as well as aiding breathing for sick or stressed fish, when medications have been used, or in warm weather.

If the air pump is situated below the water level, it must have a non-return valve fitted to stop water siphoning back into the air pump if there is a power cut.

Air output may drop on the air pump when the diaphragm needs replacing. We recommended that the air pump diaphragm are replaced annually. 

The air pumps are weather proof and can be used outside. The air pumps are not waterproof so do not place in any location where they are likely to be flooded.

All the parts in the air pumps can be replaced. If you have replaced the diaphragm kit and your air pump still does not work it may be the electro-magnet. Please contact us to purchase a new replacement part. 

The air pump is mounted to the base on rubber grommets. It is possible that one of these has come out. Please refer to the air pump manual and check the exploded diagram on page eleven, you will need a screwdriver and a pair of pliers to repair.

To clean the filter on your air pump, follow the steps:

  1. Loosen the screw on top.
  2. Remove the plastic filter cover.
  3. Take the filter out and clean it with clean water and dry it.
  4. Put it back and secure the fixing plate with the screw in.

To change the activating arm on your air pump, follow the steps below:

  1. Loosen the four screws around the cover and remove.
  2. Loosen the four screws around the coil cover and remove.
  3. Loosen the four screws around the diaphragm housing.
  4. Release the clip and dismantle the diaphragm housing.
  5. Loosen the nut. Remove both the nut and washer.
  6. Remove the diaphragm and repeat on the other side.
  7. Remove and replace the activating arm.
  8. Re-fit the diaphragm and repeat on the other side.
  9. Re-fit the nut and washer and tighten them up.
  10. Re-fit the diaphragm housing back into place.
  11. Re-fit the four screws and tighten them up.
  12. Re-fit the clip and repeat on the other side.
  13. Re-fit the coil cover and four screws, then tighten them up.
  14. Re-fit the cover and four screws, then tighten them up.

You may find that your air pump has a two pin plug – cutting the plug will not void your guarantee.

The plug can be cut off and wired into a safe, compliant, outdoor electrical system, with an RCD cut-off.
