Urban Watercourse & Habitat Restoration Project

This project focused on the restoration and ecological enhancement of an urban watercourse, combining habitat engineering, natural bank stabilisation, and aquatic planting techniques within a constrained city-centre environment.

Works included the installation of woven willow spiling, coir matting systems, natural stone placement, marginal planting, and the creation of a resilient habitat corridor designed to soften the engineered channel while improving biodiversity and water resilience.

The project required careful coordination within a tight construction site, with specialist access, temporary works, and environmental considerations throughout the installation process.

The finished scheme demonstrates how engineered urban drainage infrastructure can be combined with naturalistic planting and habitat creation to deliver both practical water management and meaningful biodiversity enhancement.
